Probst Motorsports - TORC Crandon II Race Report

E3 SPARK PLUG TEAM LUCAS OIL PRO 2 VISITS CRANDON!
Kevin Probst and the E3 Spark Plugs Team Lucas entry in Unlimited 2
took a side trip from the Lucas Oil Off Road Series last week, to race
in Crandon, Wisconsin at the 40th anniversary of the Brush Run Race.
It was quite the happening with huge crowds and good truck fields. The
event marked the 32nd start of the races for Kevin in his long time
history at the track. The occasion was celebrated with only 4 other
drivers who have raced Crandon for more than 30 years. The drivers,
Kevin Probst, Scott Taylor, Dan VandenHuevel, Al Drews, and Bill
Grabowski,  were introduced by the track announcer to the cheers of
over 40 thousand happy spectators. After each gave a short speech, the
crowd gave them all another round of cheers and the pro races started.

Kevin was entered in the Pro 2wd field of 19 trucks on Saturday and
Sunday and qualified with the 6th fast time for both days. The
inversion process put The Number 99 on the line in the 10th spot. The
green fell, and the race did not go as planned for the team Saturday
as a first lap collision caused damage to the front brakes ending the
race day after the competition yellow and the half way restart. ?The
collision must have bent a rotor causing the caliper to rip off the
truck? commented Kevin after the race, ?this is the stuff that drives
teams crazy and it?s not something you have little control over?

Sunday?s event was to start at 10:30 AM due to the celebrity driver
Robbie Gordon and his Nascar scheduled event later in the day. At the
start, Kevin, Making his way through turn one and lap one was again
collected by others in turn 4. This left Kevin in the 14th spot to
start the race and try to make the best of it. Working trough traffic,
Kevin took the #99 to the 9th spot by the competition yellow and at
the finish, ended the day in 7th. With the competitive nature of this
race, the team felt good about the finish and look forward to getting
back to the Lucas Off Road Series events in Surprise Arizona next month.

The Probst team, along with Lucas Oil and E3 Spark plugs, hosted a pit
party Sunday night after the races ended. The team arranged to have
?OD-Jo?, a great band and friend of Jon Probst, come and entertain the
racers that stayed Sunday night. All enjoyed the show and the guys
played from 9PM to around 2AM. Everyone had a great time with the
bench racing session and lots of dancing and enjoying adult beverages.
The pit was the place to be and looks like it will have to be an
annual event now. Thanks to Lucas Oil Products and E3 Spark Plugs for
making the weekend a successful and safe time.

See you at the next event in Surprise, AZ., October 16-19, 2009
