JEREMY MILLER SECURES TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP AND IS BACK AT THE TOP OF THE ASA
MEMBER TRACK STANDINGS
By: Kevin Ramsell
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Thursday, September 10, 2009) - Jeremy Miller will have
to wait and see what happens. The Rockton, IL driver secured the 2009
Madison (WI) International Speedway track championship last Friday night
with a feature win and a fifth place finish in their double feature events
and is back on top of the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil American Speed
Association Member Track National Championship.
Miller and Madison International Speedway have done their part to be in this
position. Miller did his part by winning the track championship, a
requirement in order to be in the running for the National Championship.
MIS completed their task of submitting the 14 events needed to give Miller
an accurate point average. (A reminder to the tracks, the formula needs to
have 14 events in order to give a driver an accurate average for the
National Championship.)
Miller now has an average of 4.2166 and now has to wait and see if that
average will hold for him to win the ASA Member Track National Championship
along with a tryout with Joe Gibbs Racing.
Jeff Mathews, who is the current point leader at East Bay Raceway Park in
Tampa, FL, is currently in second place with an average of 4.0955. Tommy
Cloce of Adirondack International Speedway in New Bremen, NY is in third
with an average of 4.0207.
Ralph Adams at Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu City, AZ is in fourth with
an average of 3.8448. Adams has also secured his 2009 track championship
and 14 events. Havasu 95 Speedway will have their championship banquet this
Saturday night. Adams also leads the West Region standings.
Clint LaFont of Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, TX rounds out the top-five with
an average of 3.5691.
"This is far from over," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "It's fascinating
to watch how these averages change when a track completes 14 events and I
have a feeling that we will see some drivers move up and down in the
standings and its possible for a new driver to jump in and surprise all of
us."
"I would like to congratulate all of the drivers who have already won track
championships in 2009," Huth exclaimed. "Over the next few weeks, more ASA
Member Tracks will be crowning their champions. The racing will be intense
and close. This is short track racing at its best."

The American Speed Association Short Track National Championship is another
step by the industry leader in creating new and innovative programs. This
follows the recent announcement about extending the insurance coverage for
ASA members traveling to, from, and during an ASA-sanctioned event. For
updated ASA National Points, just click on the "Points" link at
www.asa-racing.com.
ASA members in good standing are eligible for a $500,000 Excess Medical
Benefit as well as a $20,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefit.
Coverage for the member begins while traveling to a location promoting an
ASA-sanctioned event and continues until arrival home again. The American
Speed Association, in conjunction with WSIB Motorsports Insurance, is the
only sanctioning body to offer insurance coverage which extends beyond the
boundary of the racetrack itself (complete details are available online at
www.ASA-Racing.com).
The ASA Member Track program is comprised of more than 35 short tracks
around the United States, as well as a variety of regional and national
