DON SCHUMACHER RACING RAISES OVER $19,000 AT FOURTH ANNUAL U.S. NATIONALS
OPEN HOUSE
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (Sept. 8, 2009) Over 4,000 fans attended the fourth
annual Don Schumacher Racing Open House on Friday, Sept. 4, all of whom
helped raise over $19,000 for Riley Childrenıs Foundation and Riley Hospital
for Children. The event was held in advance of the 55th annual U.S.
Nationals at Raceway Park at Indianapolis, the 18th of 24 events of the 2009
NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.
Live auctions, raffles, and voluntary donations held at the 100,000-sq. ft.
facility in Brownsburg, Ind., which houses all six DSR NHRA teams, pushed
the four-year total north of $80,000.
The gold chrome U.S. Nationals Tony Schumacher helmet fetched $2,800 with a
winning bid from Brad Myers, of Elkhart, Ind. Myers also submitted the
winning bids for the DSR Stratosphere-Orbitz Las Vegas race package
($1,200), and to be an honorary crew member on the FRAM Tough Guard team
with driver Cory McClenathan on Friday in Las Vegas ($450). Myers' personal
auction contribution reached $4,450, and the total for the auction portion
of the fundraising effort for Riley Childrenıs Foundation was $7,450.
Visitors were treated to a car show courtesy of the Indy Hi-Winders Car
Club, and a thunderous ³Cacklefest² of vintage Nitro cars led by the Justin
Grant-owned Don Schumacher Wonder Wagon replica 1970 Funny Car.
³We at Don Schumacher Racing are always happy to open our doors for the U.S.
Nationals fans,² said team owner Don Schumacher. ³More importantly, with the
support of the NHRA fans and our sponsors, families and volunteers, we are
thrilled that we are able to contribute to the Riley Childrenıs Foundation
and Riley Hospital for Children each year. It means a lot to our employees,
who take great pride in this event.²
