Hyundai Genesis Scoops the Award Pool in the U.S
MACQUARIE PARK, AUSTRALIA – September 8, 2009: Hyundai Motor Company’s all-new flagship, the Genesis sedan, has blitzed its opposition in the U.S. to become the most decorated new car launched in the 2009 model year.
With more than 20 top honours, including recognition from J.D. Power, Motor Trend, AutoPacific and a host of leading consumer publications, Genesis has won universal acclaim, also being crowned 2009 North American Car of the Year – the first time a Korean brand has ever achieved the honour.
Genesis is built on Hyundai’s completely new performance-driven rear-wheel drive architecture. With two powertrains (the Lambda 3.8 litre V6 and the Tau 4.6 litre V8), technology rivalling much more expensive luxury sedans, convenience features like push-button ignition, inbuilt navigation systems and five-star safety ratings, it’s little wonder that Genesis has been recognised as the best new car of 2009.
“Genesis was conceived and built to give the world’s best luxury sedans a run for their money,” said Kevin McCann, Hyundai Motor Company Australia’s Sales and Marketing Director. “The fact that it has achieved so much recognition from experts proves not only that Genesis is a great car, it also confirms that Hyundai has become a global leader in product design as well as quality and value. Clearly, the public is also ready to embrace the idea of Hyundai producing an attractive luxurious product.”
McCann continued, “Hyundai’s achievements in North America are mirrored in the Australian market with the i30 range, iLoad and iMax receiving numerous accolades. With a number of new products such as the 2010 Santa Fe, i20 and ix35 on the way, Hyundai is continuing to offer buyers award-winning quality cars.”
