RAIN PUTS ELIMINATIONS ON HOLD UNTIL MONDAY AT THE NHRA'S NORTHWEST DIVISION
SUMMIT RACING SERIES FINALS

WOODBURN, Ore. (Sept. 6, 2009) - After getting hit by rain five
times today, NHRA and Woodburn Dragstrip officials pulled the plug on the
NHRA Northwest Division Summit Racing Series Finals for the day.
Eliminations will resume Monday morning at 8 a.m.

There were more than 600 cars in competition and they had gotten
through first round of all categories and were almost through the second
round of Super Pro when the last rain shower hit. However, according to
Division Director Jonathan Adams, the radar indicates this one will last
well into the night.

Racers in the NHRA Northwest Division Summit Racing Series
Finals are vying for team and individual honors and a share of the purse
worth more than $16,000.

The division's Jr. Dragster category ran eliminations on
Saturday. In the Jr. Thunder (8- to 12-year-old) class, Meghan Molinari of
Battle Ground, Wash., (Portland Int'l Raceway) scored the win over Woodburn
Dragstrip's Jerold Mix, Aumsville, Ore. In Jr. Lightning (13- to
17-year-old), Puyallup resident Taren Smith (Bremerton Raceway) ousted
Greyson Wolfe of Spokane, Wash., (Spokane County Raceway).

Track managers had an opportunity to help their teams on
Saturday, participating in the Track Manager's Challenge. After the
Challenge, the preliminary point standings have Portland Int'l Raceway in
first place with 36 points and Spokane County Raceway, Woodburn Dragstrip,
Firebird Raceway and Madras Dragstrip all within 10 points.
