Lofton Knocking on the Door of First Pro Cup Win

*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*

Mooresville, N.C. (September 4, 2009) – Matt Lofton’s season has been
getting better throughout the year, improving on his performance level and
team confidence. This weekend marks the first race in the Championship
Series and Lofton could not be more convinced in his chances to win his
first career Pro Cup victory.

“I definitely feel like we have a top three car for sure,” commented Lofton
after a testing session held at the track earlier in the week. “Anytime you
get a top three car in this Series, you have a chance to win. We probably
had one of the worst cars that we’ve had last time here at Concord, but I
really feel like we made some huge strides during the test and this could be
the best shot we have at a win.”

This season, Lofton has had many career bests, which has led him to be a
Championship contender for the first time in his career. Lofton most
recently led for the first time in the Series at Langley Speedway two weeks
ago, but a motor problem prevented him from his first win.

“We went back and evaluated the problem and it really wasn’t anything to
cause concern,” explained Lofton. “We had some damage from an incident
early in the race, and that’s what caused the overheating. Leading those
laps for the first time, it was a great confidence booster and something
that the team really needed.”

Lofton enters the Championship Series eighth in points. This gives him and
the Strutmasters Racing team a strong shot at winning their first
Championship.

“We definitely have a shot at it. Anything can happen in those last few
races. Whichever team makes the fewest mistakes is going to be there in the
end,” commented Lofton. “Clay and Brandon have been doing a great job these
last couple races, but I really feel like between Brandon and me, we’ve been
the hottest thing rolling into the Championship Series. We definitely have
a shot if I can minimize any mistakes, we should be pretty good.”

Come watch Lofton gun for his first Pro Cup victory at the Concord 250 which
starts at 7:30 pm on Saturday, September 5 at Concord [N.C.] Speedway. You
can also see all the action from the Concord event on your local FSN station
on Sunday, October 25 at 11:30am.
