Zipcar Equips Portland Vehicles with Bike Racks, Park Passes

PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 4 -- Zipcar, the world's leading car sharing service, has outfitted nine Portland vehicles with complementary bike racks, and 40 vehicles with federal Northwest Forest Passes and / or Oregon State Park Passes. As with all Zipcars, these vehicles include gas, insurance and 180 miles of driving, and are parked in nearby, convenient locations.

What: 9 Zipcars -- Subaru Imprezas and Outbacks -- have been outfitted with Yakima bike racks through the fall season. Each rack holds two bikes.

In addition, 40 Zipcars have been outfitted with state and / or federal park passes, giving Zipsters free entrance and parking at local parks and forests. The cars with passes include Honda CRVs, Honda Elements, Subaru Outbacks, and some Subaru Imprezas.

When: The bike racks already are in place, and will stay on cars through the fall.

The park passes also are in place, and are valid for one year (through August 2010).

Where: Zipcars with bike racks and forest passes are located throughout Portland, and can be found with two quick steps: 1) filtering for specific vehicle type, and 2) clicking on the vehicle's description to view special features, such as bike rack or forest pass.

The Northwest Forest Passes are valid in Washington and Oregon National Forests at day-use sites where fees are collected.

Oregon State Park Passes are valid at hundreds of day-use park properties in the Oregon State Park system.
