350 Zipcars Near BART Stations Offer Convenient Alternative During Bay Bridge Closing

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 4 -- Zipcar, the world's largest car sharing service, is reminding Bay Area residents that if they must drive during the Bay Bridge closing, there are 350 Zipcars located near BART stations in San Francisco and the East Bay.
By taking a quick BART ride across the bay and then using a nearby Zipcar for the rest of the trip, Bay Area residents will have a convenient alternative to experiencing expected traffic delays. In San Francisco, 250 Zipcars live near BART stations, and in the East Bay, 100 Zipcars live within a short walk of BART stations. Zipcar locations on both sides of the bay may be viewed here.
Bay Area residents can apply for a Zipcar membership online or at the San Francisco Zipcar office. Prior to the Labor Day weekend, Zipcar also will be accepting membership applications at the following locations and times:
-- Friday -- On-street party in San Francisco near Market and Third, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. -- On-street party near UC Berkeley campus, at Telegraph and Bancroft, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Zipcar Reservations and Pricing: -- Zipcar reservations include gas, insurance and 180 miles of driving. -- Zipcar reservations start as low as $7 per hour for hourly only hybrids. -- Zipcar is currently offering a $60 weekend rate (ending Sept. 8th) for select cars for full-day reservations. -- On Monday through Thursday nights, Zipcars are available from 6 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. for just $34 as part of the "Zipcar Overnight" program.
