CHP, Trucking and Insurance Industries Join to Demonstrate How Trucks & Cars Can Share the Road Safely This Labor Day
--Insurance Information Network of California:
WHO: |
California Highway Patrol Deputy Commissioner Skip Carter
California Trucking Association Board Chairman Bob Ramorino
Insurance Information Network of California Executive Director Candysse Miller
WHAT: |
CHP officers and professional truck drivers will demonstrate the dangers of failing to recognize the distance it takes for a truck to come to a complete stop, as well as how drivers can avoid big rigs’ blind spots. Live demonstrations will be repeated to allow camera crews maximum flexibility in their coverage.
WHEN: |
Wednesday, September 2nd. A brief press conference will begin at 9 a.m., immediately followed by the demonstration. |
||
WHERE: |
CHP Academy, 3500 Reed Avenue, West Sacramento, 95605
WHY: |
When a big rig truck and a passenger car are involved in an accident, the laws of physics determine the outcome. California Highway Patrol estimated that more than half of the 7,262 collisions involving big rigs last year were caused by passenger vehicle drivers. The CHP, IINC and CTA will demonstrate how Labor Day weekend drivers can safely share the road with big rigs on California’s highways. |
(NOTE: Media arriving at the Academy will await escort to the press conference site.)
