Reigning Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. is making test  laps
 
In anticipation of this weekend's 55th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals  
presented by Lucas Oil in Indianapolis and the upcoming Countdown to 1 
playoffs,  which begin Sept. 18-20 at zMax Dragway in Concord, N.C., reigning Pro 
Stock  champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. will test his JEGS.com Chevrolet Cobalt 
Tuesday in  Charlotte.

A five-time world champion with 60 national event victories,  the 
39-year-old Coughlin already is one of the most successful drag racers in  history. 
He's hoping a strong test will propel his team to a third Indy win and  
secure the No. 1 ranking heading into the playoffs, worth an extra 20 points  
after the standings are reset prior to the Countdown to 1.

Coughlin  drives for Victor Cagnazzi Racing, a Mooresville, N.C.-based race 
team.
