The Honda Foundation Donates $5,000 to Assist New South Wales Rural Fire Service

TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – September 1, 2009: The Honda Foundation has donated $5,000 to the Liverpool Range Support Brigade to assist the New South Wales Rural Fire Service.

Patrons of the recent AgQuip Field Days at Gunnedah helped raise the money by purchasing ASIMO merchandise at the Honda stand.

ASIMO, short for Advanced Step in Innovative MObility, is the world’s first humanoid robot developed by Honda and is a milestone in robotics engineering. All proceeds from the sale of this merchandise were donated.

The Liverpool Range Support Brigade, part of the NSW Rural Fire Service, consists of 70,000 volunteer members who provide emergency services to 95 percent of NSW. The money from The Honda Foundation will help ensure the Support Brigade can continue to provide essential support services to front-line fire-fighters and the community.

Gary King and Orson Dundler from Honda Australia MPE division, presented a cheque to Andrew Luke, Community Safety Officer from the Liverpool Range Support Brigade, along with a number of other volunteer members.

Chairman of The Honda Foundation, Mr. Lindsay Smalley said, “The Liverpool Range Support Brigade play a vital role in their local community. It is a great pleasure to be able to offer them assistance for all their hard work.”
