Carl Billet Becomes First Repeat Winner of the Season at SSP on Saturday Night

 

Newberrytown, PA (August 29, 2009) - Carlisle's Carl Billet became the first repeat Late Model winner in fifteen races this season at the Susueqhenna Speedway Park on Saturday night.  The win also marked Billet's 50th career win milestone at the York County oval.  Billet is the all-time feature win leader at SSP at 50 leading Johnny Mackison Sr. (35), Bobby Hersh and Stevie Smith (both at 33). 

 

Marshall McMullen of Orrtanna wired the field to pcik up his second Street Stock victory of 2009.  Sam Rial of Windsor extended his point lead in the Xtreme Stock Cars Track Championship by collecting the feature win after a hard battle with Donnie Broderick.  Dover's Curtis Shue collected the XSC Rookie Rumble win.  Danville's Bob Campbell charged to the front to win the 12-lap PENNMAR Vintage Car thriller.   Jason Anderson of York Haven picked up his first career Mini Van victory in the 10-lap Susquehanna Recyclers feature event.  

 

Racing action continues at the SSP Outback Track on Friday night, September 4 at 7:30 p.m. featuring quarter midget, kart and Speedcar racing action.  This will be the final race of the Summer Shoot-Out Series which was postponed from Friday, August 28.

 

Then on Saturday night, September 5 at 6:00 p.m. (note new starting time) the Big Track will feature the 9th Annual York County Nationals featuring a 32-lap Late Model championship.  The Street Stocks and Xtreme Stocks will each compete in 25-lap feature events as well.  The Legends Cars will also join the program.

The Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune is on September 2

 

 

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be on September 2, 2009.  It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval.  The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination).  Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class.  Each session will be 6 - 8 laps per session.  The grandstands are open free to the public.  Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits.  The fuel pumps from Miller's Racing Parts will not be open.  Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller's Racing Parts directly.  The main concession stand will also be open throughout the night.  

 

Also on Wedesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets and karts at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights.  The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and "cold pit" areas.  All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the "Big Track."
