Indianapolis, August 25, 2009: RaceFanRadio's newest show, "The Next Level Presented by PitFit" continues to bring in some of the brightest young talent elevating through the ranks of motorsport and Tuesday night's show will continue that trend. Two former kart racers from opposite sides of the country will join in as New Jersey's Paulie Harraka (a recent winner in the NASCAR Camping World West Series) and Californian Joel Miller (3rd overall in points with 7 Top 5 finishes in the 2009 Star Mazda Championship).
And speaking of Mazda, John Doonan, Motorsports Team Development Manager for the car company committed to helping young drivers advance their careers, will call in and give us an update on everything from karting to big time road racing...
Paulie Harraka has built a racing resume that extends from go-karts to NASCAR Sprint Cup cars. Harraka has won a total of 158 races in all types of cars, a World Karting Association Triple Crown, the Holley Future Star Award, 13 National Championships, and 6 World Championships in go-karts. He moved from karts to Legends cars in 2005 winning his first ever race at the Lowe's Motor Speedway Summer Shootout. Harraka, who is of Syrian descent, received an invitation to the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Combine and won the 2007 NASCAR Rookie of the Year Honors driving for Bill McAnally on their way to a second place points finish. They continued their relationship into 2008, winning the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Championship with 11 race wins! Moving up to the NASCAR Camping World West Series together, Harraka and McAnally just picked up their first win, at the NAPA/Toyota 150 at Colorado National Speedway.
Joel Miller has been racing ten years starting at the karting level and adding formula cars the last five years. He won the US National ICA Karting Championship for TonyKart and straddles a racing career while maintaining a 3.3 GPA attending the University of California, Riverside (UCR) working on a Mechanical Engineering degree. "Joel Miller is the complete package and we have been proud to have Joel as a part of the Mazdaspeed Motorsports Driver Development Ladder in karting, the Skip Barber National Series, the Star Mazda Championship and even part of our Grand Am Rolex GT testing program over the winter", says Mazda Motorsports John Doonan. "He is a rising star, not only with Mazda...but in the industry."
