Charles Carpenter Racing ADRL Summit Racing Equipment Ohio Drags III Preview

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Carpenter looks to carry momentum into Columbus

(8-20-2009) HEBRON, OH – After spending the last two weekends scoring
a win, a runner-up, and a career-best 3.958 elapsed time at local
races, Charles Carpenter is ready to carry that momentum to National
Trail Raceway for the National Guard ADRL Summit Racing Equipment Ohio
Drags III.

Carpenter grabbed the King of Carolina Pro Modified Shootout title at
Winston-Salem, North Carolina’s Farmington Dragway two weeks ago, and
followed that up this past weekend with a runner-up finish and career-
best lap at a Quick 8 race in Orangeburg, SC.

“Due to budget constraints, we had to make a business decision to skip
the last ADRL race in St. Louis in favor of racing closer to home,”
Carpenter said. “Doing that also afforded us the luxury of trying some
new things in hopes of finding the type of performance we need to run
with the big guns in the ADRL. We were able to find the few extra
hundredths that will hopefully allow us to go some rounds in Columbus
and the rest of the ADRL races this season.”

“It was really simple,” Carpenter continued. “I told my crew that if
we go 3.99 in the heat of the day and 3.95 at night, then we’ll go to
Columbus. That’s exactly what we were able to do this past weekend, so
here we are.”

It’s been quite a rollercoaster season for the veteran driver, coming
all the way back from a devastating crash in March that looked to be
the end of the line for his new Terry Murphy-built ’55 Chevy. But
thanks to Alan Pittman Race Cars, the car was resurrected and is back
running better than ever.

“I can’t say enough about everyone that has helped me get back to this
point,” said Carpenter. “Above all, Paul Albino from Total Induction
Tuning Solutions has been invaluable, providing new setup ideas that
have been the key to our recent success. If we can take advantage of
the cooler weather conditions that are forecasted for this weekend’s
race, we may be able to really do some damage. Everyone else will be
running faster as well, but I think we will be able to hang right
there with them.”

For fans in central Ohio, seeing the big ’55 Chevy shoebox motor down
the eighth-mile and hold its own with the ultra-sleek Camaros and
Corvettes will certainly be a highlight of the National Guard ADRL’s
inaugural visit National Trail Raceway.

Charles Carpenter Racing would like to thank Doherty Motorsports,
