Cyclone Power Technologies Completes First Generation of its Generator Engine

POMPANO BEACH, Fla.--Cyclone Power Technologies (Pink Sheets: CYPW) announced today that it has completed the development and testing of its first generation Mark II Engine, a two-cylinder external combustion engine designed for small scale electric power generation.

Running under the load of a dynamometer, Cyclone’s bench version of the Mark II Engine achieved power output results that exceeded original engineering calculations. Operating at temperatures of 1000°F and steam pressures of 1150 psi, the compact 98 lbs Mark II ran at 2133 rpm and produced 13.4 hp and 33 ft-lbs of torque at a fuel (diesel) burn rate of 0.796 gal/hr. This equates to thermal efficiencies of an impressive 30.75%.

“We are absolutely thrilled with these results,” stated Harry Schoell, CEO of Cyclone and inventor of the engine. “The Mark II has been our test mule for several years now, teaching us a substantial amount about our designs, materials and tolerances. We feel that it’s time to retire this version of the engine and proceed to the second generation of our technology.”

The company expects the next generation Mark II to be a variable-speed engine with throttle control and an enhanced lubrication system – more similar to Cyclone’s larger Mark V Engine. Additionally, the new Mark II Engine will be designed to allow greater accessibility to parts and components. These improvements are expected to make the engine easier and less expensive to manufacture and maintain.

The Mark II Engine is designed for electric power generation, either on a portable or stand-by basis. The current generation engine is water cooled, best used in marine applications; however, the company will be building an air-cooled engine as well.

Given the ability of Cyclone engines to run on any fuels -- including today’s most promising renewable biofuels -- and its cleaner and quieter emissions, the applications for these power generators in homes and business, and on trucks, RVs and boats, are enormous. The company is seeking development partners and licensees for these specific projects.

CORPORATE PROFILE

Cyclone Power Technologies is the developer of the award-winning Cyclone Engine – an eco-friendly external combustion engine with the power and versatility to run everything from portable electric generators and garden equipment to cars, trucks and locomotives. Invented by company founder and CEO Harry Schoell, the patented Cyclone Engine is a modern day steam engine, ingeniously designed to achieve high thermal efficiencies through a compact heat-regenerative process, and to run on virtually any fuel - including bio-diesels, syngas or solar - while emitting fewer greenhouse gases and irritating pollutants into the air. Currently in its late stages of development, the Cyclone Engine was recognized by Popular Science Magazine as the Invention of the Year for 2008, and was presented with the Society of Automotive Engineers’ AEI Tech Award in 2006 and 2008. Additionally, Cyclone was recently named Environmental Business of the Year by the Broward County Environmental Protection Department. For more information, visit www.cyclonepower.com.
