New Powertrains for Mazda CX-7
NOTTING HILL, AUSTRALIA – August 17, 2009: Mazda Australia will later this year add two new engines to its updated CX-7 crossover range, both delivering impressive fuel economy and that Zoom-Zoom driving promise.
On sale in November, the refreshed CX-7 range will adopt the proven 2.5 litre naturally-aspirated and 2.2 litre turbo-diesel engines already used in the award-winning Mazda6. By doing so, Mazda recognises the diverse needs of Australian SUV buyers, becoming the only country where all three powertrains are offered.
Mazda’s refreshed sporty SUV will be available in a choice of three powertrains, three transmissions, two drivetrains and four feature-packed grades.
The newly adopted front-wheel-drive CX-7 Classic utilises the naturally aspirated 2.5 litre engine and is mated to a 5-speed Activematic transmission. The inline-four, DOHC, 16-valve configuration delivers maximum power of 120kW at 6,000rpm and maximum torque of 205Nm at 2,000rpm. Fuel economy is an impressive 9.4 litres per 100km.
The new CX-7 Diesel Sports with 2.2 litre turbo-diesel engine boasts maximum power of 127kW at 3,500rpm and a maximum torque of 400Nm at 2,000rpm. Power is delivered via a 6-speed manual transmission and transferred to the road through Mazda’s proven Active Torque Split All-Wheel-Drive system. Impressive performance is matched by keen fuel economy of only 7.6 litres per 100km.
Carried over in the refreshed CX-7 range and available in the CX-7 Classic Sports and CX-7 Luxury Sports is the powerful 2.3-litre Direct Injection Spark Ignition turbo engine producing an impressive 175kW of power and 350Nm of torque. Mated to a 6-speed Activematic transmission, it also utilises the Active Torque Split All-Wheel-Drive system.
All models in the CX-7 crossover range will feature updated styling and revised features details of which will be released in the near future.
