LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – August 14, 2009: Visitors to Beaulieu this Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August, have a treat in store with an opportunity to hear the unique melodies created by the multi-cylinder engines of a number of the National Motor Museum’s most prestigious supercars and superbikes, as they are put through their start-up paces in the Beaulieu Arena.
The line up will include some of the earliest supercars and bikes in the Museum’s collection such as the 7.4 litre 1909 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost and the 4.5 litre 1930 Blower Bentley Le Mans replica. Bikes will be represented by a 1915 Harley Davidson and a 1928 Rudge. From the sixties, visitors will see and hear the ex- Hailwood 1962 Honda RC163.
Joining them, and bringing the line-up bang up to date, will be a number of supercars including a trio of Ferraris; the 1988 F40, the 1998 Maranello and 2004 Scaglietti 612. Peace will be shattered by a Cacklefest display, courtesy of the Wild Bunch nostalgia ‘Slingshot’ dragster plus a selection of modern superbikes including a 2005 Harley Davidson ‘Street Rod’ and a 2007 Speedway motorcycle.
Supercar Start-up will take place at 12 noon and again at 4pm and can be enjoyed as part of a visit to the whole Beaulieu Attraction including the ‘World of Top Gear’ exhibition. For more information visit: www.beaulieuevents.co.uk
