Consumers in the Driver's Seat on Auto Repairs

Greetings~

With the economy still a concern, American's are holding on to old cars
longer and spending more to keep them on the road. In fact, some three
million fewer cars were purchased in 2008 than 2007, and this year promises
much of the same (Cash for Clunkers notwithstanding).

But getting extra life out of an old car is a minefield for many consumers
-- it's hard to know what the true costs of parts and maintenance should be,
and a lot of drivers feel at a disadvantage when talking to mechanics.

DriverSide (www.driverside.com) is a new company founded to put consumers in
the driver's seat on auto repairs. It's a simple to navigate site that
informs drivers what they should expect to pay for typical repairs, and
features reviews of repair shops provided by other drivers. DriverSide's
team of independent auto experts provide helpful tips prolonging the life of
cars, send out email alerts about safety recalls and otherwise serve as an
objective resource for drivers. And, its new online Diagnostic Tool is a
first-of-its-kind tool that helps the average car owner identify and solve
common car ailments. Whether it’s an easy self service fix or a matter for
a mechanic, DriverSide will provide a step-by-step approach to solve any
problem, for free!

Co-founder Trevor Traina has an interesting point of view about introducing
transparency into the auto repair business, and how it can put drivers on a
level field with mechanics. Are you available the week of August 17th to
talk with Trevor? I'll call you shortly to get something on your calendar,
or you can reach me at 415 722 8583 at your convenience.

Sincerely,

Sue Ellen Schaming
