Charlotte, August 13, 2009: One year ago this weekend then 20 year-old Brad Coleman was called up from the NASCAR Nationwide Series to try and save struggling Hall of Fame Racing. The No. 96 Sprint Cup car had not been qualifying for a number of races and Coleman was asked to get the car in the race.
“I’ll never forget their pre-race speech to me,” said Coleman. “They said “Your goal for this weekend is just to get the car in the race and stay safe.” You’re a wide-eyed kid stepping up to your dream against many of your heroes who will now be your peers. All I could think of was get the car in the race and stay safe.”
He did just that, qualifying the car in the 43rd position by two one-hundredths of a second. Coleman then ran a safe and incident-free race, finishing 38th in his first NASCAR Sprint Cup outing on one of the circuits fastest tracks. Little did he know that the team had plans to wind down their business for the remainder of the season.
Coleman will now take his No. 20 BigSpot.com Toyota on the Michigan track where he has had some solid finishes. He recorded two Top 5’s on the big speedway in ARCA, and a Top 15 in his only Nationwide Series race which featured 25 Sprint Cup drivers.
“Michigan is a great race track and I love the big, high speed racing the venue creates,” stated Coleman. “This is going to be a great weekend for the No. 20 BigSpot.com Toyota team. We have all the BigSpot.com executives and their families as well as some of our friends from Rudys.com bringing some more great Bar-B-Que from Texas. The team and I are charged up for this event and ready to race.”
BigSpot.com and Offerwise.com CEO Andrew Lissak said their early impressions of Coleman and Joe Gibbs Racing have far exceeded their expectations and set a record for the number of visitors to their website.
"Brad is a polished young driver and a spokesman who can really reach our audience and Joe Gibb Racing is a great team,” said Lissak. “We understand to capitalize on our investment in NASCAR it is a long-term play, but after just one race we had a record number of visitors to our site and are excited about our early results.”
