DOUBLE DUTY GIVES THE ROCKETMAN INSTANT RESULTS
Hemlock, MI (August 13, 2009) ? At the second visit to Bark
River, Dan ?The Rocketman? Baudoux worked a double shift as his #7
Mole Lake Casino Miller Lite BFGoodrich Tire Ford F-150 competed in
the PRO-2WD division and the SRT Limited Truck class of the Traxxas
TORC Series presented by AMSOIL. Dan and his crew were flawless in
their preparations between races, as ?The Rocketman? took the
checkered flag in all four races, with solid podium performances in
one division, and finishing without serious damage to the truck in the
other. One thing that was really evident over the weekend, was the
large number of fans cheering the Mole Lake Rocket at the Upper
Peninsula track and in which ever division he competes.
Both rounds of racing in the SRT Limited Truck division had Dan
starting in the back row of the land rush. He knew there were some
talented drivers behind the wheel of some very fast race trucks. The
back row starting position created a definite challenge to chase down
the division leader #29 Steele. Both rounds saw the Rocketman get
great starts and get into a podium position just past the halfway
point in the race. Unfortunately, Dan would run out of laps before he
could challenge for the top spot. Nevertheless, Dan brought the #7
Mole Lake Casino Miller Lite BFGoodrich Tire Ford F-150 across the
finish line in second place, both days.
The two rounds of PRO-2WD racing were another story. Thanks to some
mishaps, creating less that expected finishes in previous stops along
the 2009 TORC Series Tour, the #7 Mole Lake Ford has been relegated to
a back of the pack starting position at Bark River. Even though the
PRO-2WD regulations allow for much larger powerplants, ?The Rocketman?
choose to run his Limited Truck Powerplant, with its designed
reliability and plenty of torque as its strong points. This
combination works well at tight tracks like Texas and Perris, but in
Bark River, Dan has to rely on his driving experience to get him
through the field.
For the first time all year, the #7Ford completed every lap of both
PRO-2WD rounds of racing. The races were not without incident, as the
Red #7 was caught up in a couple of near disasters, but fortunately
Dan made it to the finish both days. The high speed Bark River track
put Dan at a power disadvantage, creating lower than expected
finishing positions.
Afterwards Dan Baudoux commented; ?Our PRO-2WD was not as strong as
we planned. We figured we would finish higher than we did, but some of
the new drivers to the class are hard to get around due to their
driving style. The best positive thing that came out of this was?. We
finished both rounds, and the truck was not all torn up! This is the
first time all year. We chose to run Limited Truck this weekend to
give our fans something to really cheer about and give our team an
extra boost of confidence by running well and tackling this task
without any problems. We definitely accomplished that. Now we can go
back to the shop and really prep this truck for the big show, at the
Big House.?
The next race is the 40th anniversary celebration of off-road
racing in Crandon, Wisconsin. The three day affair will be held
September 4-6.
You can watch Dan ?The Rocketman? Baudoux and all the TORC Round 10
PRO-2WD action this Sunday at 11:30am eastern on ESPN2.
