Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, August 12, 2009: “As one of five winners in the Star Mazda Championship this season, Mazdaspeed driver Conor Daly is looking forward to his first streetTrois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada. After his last two races at Autobahn in Joliet, IL. he finished third and fifth and moved up to third place in the points championship.
I am very much looking forward to competing in my first street race," Conor said. "My Dad raced at Trois-Rivieres in 1979 for Fred Opert Racing in the Atlantic Series back when F1 drivers raced at Trois Rivieres on a regular basis, so it will be kind of nostalgic for him to watch me race there. We are committed to our Championship run even though our car appears to be outclassed by the new car Star Mazda that now has experienced and fast drivers (Dempsey & Christodoulou) behind the wheel. However, my personal goal is to get the best from myself and from my car. My team guys are great and we're always in the hunt, so even though this year has been a big learning curve for me as long as I can stay out of other people's trouble, we should produce a good result at the end of the weekend.“
