Shanghai, August 11 (Gasgoo.com) A new type of hybrid power bus that can
cuts fuel use by 30% will go into service during the upcoming Summer Davos
Forum starting September 10 in northeast China's coastal city of Dalian,
xinhuanet.com reported.
"The hybrid power bus does not give off fumes when starting or going down a
slope," said Zhao Zhongmin, design chief of FAW Bus and Coach Co., Ltd. The
bus, which meets Euro III emission standards, uses only 30 liters of fuel
every 100 kilometers and discharges 20% less of emissions.
Half of the bus's cost, or 400,000 yuan ($58,560), will be covered by
government subsidy. To promote R&D and manufacture of more eco-friendly
vehicles, China is offering subsidies for hybrid bus trial in 13 cities,
including Beijing, Shanghai, Changchun, Dalian and Shenzhen.
The new hybrid bus is being developed and produced by FAW Bus and Coach, and
will carry FAW's Jiefang brand name. The 12-meter-long silver bus can carry
103 passengers and travel at a top speed of 85 kilometers an hour.
The municipal government of Dalian has ordered 150 such hybrid buses. And 50
of them will be running in the city during the Summer Davos event.
In October, another 100 Jiefang hybrid power buses will go into use in
Changchun city, capital of northeast China's Jilin province and home to FAW
Group, a Chinese auto giant.
