Palisades Announces New Jersey Highway Art Gallery Winners

Works by Local Artists Selected by Public for New Jersey's First-Ever Highway Gallery

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J., Aug. 10 -- More than 110,000 votes have been tallied and the results are finally in. Palisades, the Nice New Jersey Car Insurance Company, proudly announced today the winning artwork of the first-ever New Jersey Highway Art Gallery competition. The winning pieces created by local artists will be displayed for NJ drivers to admire on billboards throughout the state, creating the Palisades Highway Art Gallery.

Throughout the contest, New Jersey artists submitted over 940 original paintings, drawings, photography and mixed media interpretations of the state's beautiful landscapes to the Palisades Drive With a Smile Web site. Visitors to the site viewed the submissions and voted for their favorites over four weeks this summer. The following were the top favorites:

Their New Jersey inspired landscapes will be featured on prominent highways throughout Bergen, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Burlington, Mercer, Ocean, Somerset, Essex, Camden and Atlantic Counties.

"From Asbury Park sunrises, to gorgeous Long Valley fall foliage, to the lively Hoboken streets, the entries we received were just overflowing with insight, creativity, and a genuine inspiration of New Jersey," said Ed Fernandez, president and CEO of Palisades. The Palisades Highway Art Gallery was officially launched on July 13th with the unveiling of two billboards featuring artwork by renowned New Jersey artists Tim Daly of Hoboken and Gary Godbee of Westfield. During the week of August 17th, the work of the contest winners will be presented on state billboards throughout the remainder of the summer. All submissions to the Highway Art Gallery are on display on the Palisades Drive With a Smile Web site.
