Taiwan KYMCO Collaborates with Japan KAWASAKI in Changzhou Hi-Tech District
Joint Venture Will Form Changzhou Kawasaki and Kwang Yang Engine Co., Ltd. to Produce General Gasoline Engines
CHANGZHOU, China, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- KYMCO and KAWASAKI announced the signing of a joint-venture contract in the morning of Aug. 2. Under the contract, KYMCO and KAWASAKI will invest USD10 million dollars to form Changzhou Kawasaki and Kwang Yang Engine Co., Ltd.(CK&K) in the Changzhou National Hi-Tech District (CZND), dedicated to the production of high performance general gasoline engines.
KAWASAKI manufactures military watercrafts, cruises, aircrafts and large- scale power generators. Since 2005, KAWASAKI cooperates with Taiwan KYMCO on high emission motorcycles. KYMCO is the largest enterprise on engine yield and sales volume in Taiwan. The newly established CK&K, located inside the Changzhou Kwang Yang Motor Co., Ltd. (Changzhou KYMCO), occupies a plant area of 6,240 sqm and is expected to commence production next January. Founded by Taiwan Kwang Yang Engine Corporation in 1995, Changzhou KYMCO is by now Taiwan KYMCO's important R&D, production and sales base in the China mainland. Under the perception of good investment environment of CZND, Mr. Wang Shuangqing commented, "The preferred location of our new JV should be certainly Changzhou!" He expressed that the establishment of CK&K symbolized the cooperation relationship between KYMCO and KAWASAKI has entered into a joint-venture operation partnership from previous business cooperation.
Products of CK&K will be mainly exported to the North American market and distributed around the world under the KAWASAKI and KYMCO brands. Anticipated production volume will reach 890,000 sets with an annual output value of RMB420 million. General gasoline engine, also called all-purpose engine or multifunctional gasoline engine in Taiwan, has an extensive market and is broadly applied to leaf blowers, power lawnmowers, tree-dozers, pruners, small generators, water pumps, road cutting machines, etc.
The excellent investment environment of CZND has attracted world's renowned enterprises such as Komatsu Ltd., DENSO, SUZUKI, Fuji Seiki Co., Ltd., OKI, Tokyo Rope Mfg. Co., Ltd., FUJITSU, Fuji Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Motor, Bridgestone, ITOCHU, Tri-Wall PAK, NTN Co. Ltd., Taiwan KYMCO, Soaring Technology, Yongqi Vehicle Co., Ltd., TFC Lighting and many others to invest and settle in the district.
