> * CRUZ PEDREGON, ADVANCE AUTO PARTS TOYOTA CAMRY (FUNNY CAR, 10TH PLACE, 713
> points): The two-time and defending Funny Car world champion is holding on to
> the 10th and final playoff berth with only three races left in the regular
> season. Pedregon has not won or been to a final round at any of the upcoming
> three races since his runner-up at Indy in 2004.

> * MATT HAGAN, SHELOR.COM DODGE CHARGER R/T (11TH PLACE, 707 POINTS): The
> Rookie of the Year candidate has been to one final round and had been in the
> Top 10 since the second race of the season before slipping back to 11th after
> a first-round loss to Cruz Pedregon at the just-completed FRAM Autolite
> Nationals at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. He is bidding to join fellow Don
> Schumacher Racing drivers Jack Beckman and Ron Capps in the Countdown to 1,
> NHRAšs six-race playoff. Hagan has never raced at Brainerd, but he made his
> NHRA debut at Reading (DNQ) in 2008 and in his second career NHRA start, at
> Indy, he qualified 16th and lost first round to Tony Pedregon.

> * ROBERT HIGHT, AUTO CLUB FORD MUSTANG (12TH PLACE, 698 POINTS): The perennial
> championship contender from the John Force Racing stable of Funny Cars has
> struggled to find a rhythm this season. After slipping out of the Top 10 in
> St. Louis, hešs been mired in 12th place for nine consecutive races. But after
> reaching the semifinals at two of the three Western Swing races, he is within
> 15 points of that 10th and final playoff berth. Hight has been to three
> straight Mac Tools U.S. Nationals finals, winning twice.
