New Jersey Turnpike Authority Awards Baker On-Call Professional Transportation and Facility Planning Services Agreement

HAMILTON, N.J.--Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE AMEX: BKR), has been awarded a $1 million, two-year, on-call agreement for the provision of professional transportation and facility planning services by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA). For this agreement, Baker will provide a full range of transportation planning, enterprise GIS development and preliminary project development services.

“This term agreement will allow Baker to continue servicing the NJTA in the development of projects which address the needs of the Turnpike system and provide high quality transportation facilities for the motoring public,” said Jim Yeager, P.E., P.T.P., Baker’s project manager for this agreement. “Building on relationships established with the NJTA Strategic Planning Unit during the last three years of our existing agreement, I look forward to providing the Authority the benefits of Baker’s wide range of capabilities in addressing their planning and design needs.”

Services to be performed may include transportation planning and travel demand modeling, truck parking and freight management studies, commuter needs assessment, enterprise GIS development, feasibility analysis for new roadway projects and the renovation/rehabilitation of existing Turnpike facilities, special project support services, and energy needs analysis for Turnpike facilities.

The Baker Team has the experience to evaluate open and closed toll road networks, including over twenty years of continuous project involvement with the NJTA. Baker will also draw upon the experience of Robert F. Dale, NJTA’s former director of operations and currently Baker’s New Jersey Toll Initiatives director, for his insight into NJTA operations of the roadways, ramps, toll plaza and service areas.
