Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. Records Best-Ever July

2009 A RECORD-BREAKING YEAR FOR KOREAN MANUFACTURER
MARKHAM, ON, July 31, 2009; Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. continued its record-breaking sales trend for 2009 by producing another tremendously strong month of sales for July. With sales of 10,488 units, Hyundai recorded its best July on record, surpassing July 2008 by over 37 per cent.As the South Korean manufacturer moves into the second half of 2009, year-over-year increases continue at double-digit rates, as they have every month this year. Since February of this year, Hyundai has recorded best-ever months, with being the best in the company's 25 year history.
"Sales figures like these are not a passing fad," said John Vernile, vice president, Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. "July marks seven straight months of sales increases for this company. And if you look at 2008, we were up almost every month then, too. This success isn't a fluke. It is the result of an automotive company providing what people want at the price they can afford, topped off with award-winning quality and gorgeous design."
July also represents the best month ever for the Santa Fe. Sales for this model were up almost 96 per cent compared to July 2008 with 2,520 units sold. Elantra sales were also up over 123 per cent compared to July 2008.
Hyundai's sales climb has been a bright spot in the Canadian automotive industry throughout 2009. For the first half of the year, Hyundai was up over 21% while the industry was down almost the same amount. The company credits its success not only to the strength of its models, but also to the growing strength of the Hyundai brand overall. In J.D. Power and Associates most-recent Initial Quality Study(SM), the brand ranked fourth overall behind only Lexus, Porsche and Cadillac. It was the top-ranked non-premium nameplate, ahead of both Honda and Toyota.
