Porsche Revs for Grand Opening at Chrin Commerce Centre in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley
EASTON, Pa.--The only things Charles Chrin loves more than farming are his family and the satisfaction of a deal well done. And that is why he is all smiles when describing how Porsche Cars of North America, about to hold its grand opening in his Chrin Commerce Centre, steered its way into his heart and his new, 800-acre business park.
“Porsche is the right business for the Lehigh Valley at exactly the right time,” explains Mr. Chrin. “They know the value of a premier location, great labor force, low taxes, cooperative local governments, and teamwork. From the very first meeting with their people, you can tell why they make the finest automobiles in the world.”
Guided by Industrial Developments International (IDI), Porsche worked with Chrin to select and then custom build a 130,000 square-foot facility known as the Northeast Regional Support Center. Under one, energy efficient roof (the building is designed to meet LEED Gold certification standards), the auto maker will soon open its Porsche Academy Training Center, operate its Area East Office, and serve as the Parts Distribution Center for the Northeast. The company estimates creating as many as 35 jobs on the site, about 20 of which would be new hires.
“They talk about location, location, location in real estate,” says Mr. Chrin. “In the Lehigh Valley, we are all about jobs, jobs and more jobs. Porsche is the perfect example of how a business can recognize the added value of locating here, and I don’t just mean in our complex, but in the Valley. We are minutes from everywhere, especially if you’re driving a Porsche.” Businesses from around the world looking for an optimal Mid Atlantic location have been attracted to the site.
Rob Nemchik, a Pennsylvania native and General Manager of Porsche Logistics Services, LLC, was one of the prime movers behind the company’s decision to locate in the Lehigh Valley and the Chrin Centre.
“We could not be happier with our decision as we prepare for the ribbon cutting in the fall,” said Mr. Nemchik. “Working together, every aspect of the project has gone smoothly. Even the smallest issues are quickly resolved with one phone call. The people in the Lehigh Valley – and throughout Pennsylvania, right to the Governor’s Office, have been responsive and easy to work with on this project.”
