Sacramento Artists Wins 1st Place in KVIE Art Auction

On-Air Bidding on KVIE helps Local Artists tell viewers "Home is where
the art is."

Sacramento, CA - July 16, 2009 - KVIE Public Television is pleased to
announce that local Sacramento artists Gary Dinnen wins first place in
the ceramics category, and Brent Spaulding wins first place in oil and
acrylic category. Dinnen's sculpture called "Hear no, See no, Speak no
Evil," and Spaulding's artwork called "In the Gorge" will be unveiled
and awarded August 24, 5:30pm to 8:30pm, during the KVIE 2009 Art
Auction Preview Party presented by the Amador Vintners' Association.

Gary Dinnen, a graduate of Sacramento State University, has been
producing art since he was a child, and his latest piece "Hear no, See
no, Speak no Evil" is an extension of his comical ceramic collection.
His sculpture of imaginative and bizarre pieces in the humorous "Dinnen
World" offers the viewer a treasure trove of playful and colorful
animated animals. Dinnen draws his inspiration from artists like Big
Daddy Roth and "anybody else that's any good."

Brent Spaulding, currently teaching at Sheldon High in Elk Grove,
describes the theme of his piece, "In the Gorge" an event about to
happen.

"The painting itself appears as a battered artifact from the old west,
representing a vague memory," he said.

His inspiration for the piece came from spaghetti western movies, and is
definitely has a Cowboy theme. His attributes his artistic influence to
Francis Bacon. Spaulding has been an artist for 20 years and has a MFA
from City College of New York and a BFA from University of Colorado.
