Nissan Production, Sales and Export Results for June 2009 and the First Half of CY2009
TOKYO, JAPAN – Nissan Motor Co.,Ltd., today announced its production, sales and export results for June 2009 and for the first half of calendar year 2009 (January-June period).
1. Production
June
Nissan's global production in June decreased 22.2%
year-on-year to 240,827 units.
Production in Japan decreased 34.2% year-on-year to 78,097 units.
Production outside of Japan decreased 14.8% year-on-year to 162,730 units.
In the U.S., production decreased 40.5% year-on-year to 28,794 units.
In Mexico, production decreased 25.7% year-on-year to 32,539 units.
In the U.K., production decreased 6.6% year-on-year to 32,217 units.
In Spain, production decreased 53.1% year-on-year to 6,655 units.
China marked a best month with a 43.6% year-on-year production increase.
Production in other regions fell 12.3% year-on-year to 14,665 units.
First half: January-June
Nissan’s global production in
January-June decreased 40.0% year-on-year to 1,099,760 units.
In Japan, domestic production fell 51.7% year-on-year to 344,891 units.
Production outside of Japan decreased 32.6% year-on-year to 754,869 units.
In the U.S., production decreased 53.2% year-on-year to 146,673 units.
In Mexico, production decreased 31.3% year-on-year to 152,050 units.
In the UK, production decreased 31.4% year-on-year to 143,229 units.
In Spain, production decreased 78.4% year-on-year to 23,298 units.
In China, production increased 28.3% year-on-year, marking a record high for the January-June period.
Production in other regions fell 28.8% year-on-year to 67,007 units.
2. Sales
June
Global sales decreased 15.0% to 274,203 units compared
to the previous year.
Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 48,286 units in Japan, down 20.7% year-on-year. Market share was down 1.0 percentage points year-on-year to 12.6%.
In Japan, vehicle registrations in June decreased 20.8% year-on-year to 38,842 units. Nissan's share of the domestic market registrations in June was down 1.4 percentage points year-on-year to 16.0%.
Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were down 20.1% from the previous year to 9,444 units.
Sales outside of Japan decreased 13.7% year-on-year to 225,917 units.
Nissan sales in the U.S. fell 23.1% year-on-year to 58,298 units.
In Europe, sales decreased 26.4% year-on-year to 42,100 units.
China however saw a record month of June with sales improving 27.7% year-on-year to 63,292 units due to high demand for Teana, Sylphy, and Tiida.
Sales in other regions were down 20.5% from the previous year to 43,502 units.
First half: January-June
Global sales in January-June
decreased 23.2% year-on-year to 1,545,976 units.
Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 291,990 units in Japan, down 25.0% year-on-year. Market share was down 0.6 percentage points year-on-year to 13.4%.
In Japan, Nissan’s vehicle registrations decreased 29.5% year-on-year to 221,379 units. Market share of the domestic market for registered vehicles in the January-June period was down 0.7 percentage points year-on-year to 17.0%.
Sales of mini-vehicles in Japan decreased 6.7% year-on-year to 70,611 units.
Sales outside of Japan decreased 22.8% year-on-year to 1,253,986 units.
Sales in the U.S. decreased 33.4% year-on-year to 347,744 units.
In Europe, sales decreased 32.3% year-on-year to 230,635 units.
In China, sales increased 19.3% year-on-year to 332,182 units marking a record high for the January-June period.
Sales in other regions were down 28.6% year-on-year to 234,837 units.
3. Japan Exports
June
Nissan's exports in June decreased 32.7% year-on-year to
42,263 units.
Exports to North America increased 1.1% year-on-year to 25,751 units.
Exports to Europe decreased 56.9% year-on-year to 3,834 units.
First half: January-June
Nissan’s exports in
January-June decreased 59.0% year-on-year to 167,115 units.
Exports to North America decreased 53.7% year-on-year to 79,854 units.
Exports to Europe fell 71.8% year-on-year to 13,438 units.
