Â
Carson City, NV – 19 year-old Bobby Hodges won his second career
Late Model feature on Saturday night over a field of 24 cars at All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif.
Â
The
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series-sanctioned three-tenths mile hosted a pair of
50 lap features.
Â
Hodges
qualified sixth which put him third on the grid after the invert. After
battling back and forth with 16 year-old Jacob Gomes, Hodges took the lead for
good on lap 22.
Â
Hodges
fended off repeated challenges from Gomes all the way to the finish for the
$750 win.
Â
“This win
just felt right,?? Hodges said. “We made an adjustment and this car is just
perfect when its right.??
Â
The event
was the first for Hodges in his 2009 black Chevrolet, after damaging that mount
in a crash on June 6.
Â
“It’s
pretty cool in the first race back in this car to win with it,?? Hodges said.
Â
Mechanical
failure ruined Hodges’ chances at winning both races for the night, as he had
to surrender the lead for a broken suspension bracket in the right rear.
Â
Hodges
had pulled away to a large lead in just the first 10 laps of the race before
having to retire to the pits.
Â
“Our goal
is to hopefully crack the top-100 in the nation and top-20 in the state standings,?? Hodges
said.
Â
He is
also in the running for the Westcar Late Model Series title, and runs seventh
in that division with four races to go.
Â
Bobby
Hodges Racing will return to action on August 8 for a Twin 44 lap event for
both Westcar and NASCAR points.
Â
Hodges
thanks his crew, sponsors, and parents for all their support throughout his
career.
