Shanghai, July 28 (Gasgoo.com) General Motors Co. on July 24 named more than
a dozen new executives to top international posts, as the automaker's
sweeping shake-up of top management spreads to its sprawling operations
overseas, AP reported.
GM appointed 14 new executives to its Shanghai-based international
operations (GMIO), including new vice presidents of purchasing, quality,
human resources and manufacturing. The appointments for GMIO in Shanghai
take effect by September 1.
The new appointments are part of GM's new culture of "product and customer
focus, speed, risk-taking and accountability," said Nick Reilly, GM
executive vice president, formerly president of GM Asia Pacific.
The automaker also named Mike Arcamone, a longtime executive in
manufacturing and global purchasing, as CEO of GM Daewoo, the company's
Korean operations. He replaces Michael Grimaldi, who is retiring October 1.
GM also appointed Alan Batey managing director of GM Holden, the automaker's
Australian unit. Batey has held sales and marketing positions at GM's Middle
East, European and Korean operations and replaces Mark Reuss effective
September 1.
The Shanghai-based GMIO base, which the new GM set up earlier this month
immediately after its restructuring, will play a bigger role in the new GM
reborn from bankruptcy, as the company is selling its European Saab and Opel
units.
