Keith Steele Race Report - TORC Oshkosh
Steele Extends Win Streak to Six ? Leads TORC SRT-2WD Truck Championship
Madison, WI (July 27, 2009) - Keith Steele looked to Oshkosh as a
low-keyed weekend of racing, as the ?Man in Black? only had two rounds
of racing on his schedule. The current leader of the TORC SRT 2WD
Truck division is on a four-race winning streak heading into
Wisconsin?s famous Fox Valley half-mile dirt track.
The .7-mile layout in and on the banked half-mile oval was a
combination of high-speed jumps and a very technical and long rhythm
section. This is one of Keith?s favorite venues as he landed on the
podium three times at the inaugural event in 2008.
Friday- Round 5
The rolling start saw the black #229 Monster Energy Chevy on the third
row. The start saw a patient Keith; pick his way toward the front. By
the fourth lap, Keith was challenging #297 Wandahsega for the lead.
Just before the mandatory yellow, Keith made the move finally stick
and took the lead. When the racing continued, the #229 SRT-2WD truck
stayed out in front for the win.
?To race with these guys is just awesome,? remarked Keith Steele. ?The
battle with Ben (Wandahsega) had to be fun to watch from the stands.
Hats off the my family and friends that really make it possible for us
to get to the track.?
Saturday ? Round 6
Once again Keith Steele patiently picked his way through the field of
the twelve-lap event. The start had the #229 Monster Energy Chevy
positioned in the third row. By the time the field finished the first
lap, the Keith was in third place. On lap 4, the black Chevy gets
around #248 of Luke Johnson to take over the lead. The final eight
laps Keith Steele held the top spot to take the win. This was the
team?s sixth win in a row in the TORC SRT-2WD division.
?It hard to imagine we would be running this good in SRT-2,? mentioned
Keith Steele. ?The competition is tough, but it?s a testament to my
crew and how well we have been running. Thanks to my brother and crew
chief, JJ Steele, my wife Izzy, and all our family and friends that
help us throughout the year. I can?t forget to thank Monster Energy
for their continued support.?
After six rounds of racing, Keith Steele is leading the TORC SRT-2WD
Points Championship.
The next race for Keith Steele and his Monster Energy Chevy is August
8-9 in Bark River, Michigan.
