Rain Wins at SSP on Saturday Night, July 25

 

Newberrytown, PA (July 25, 2009) - With 122 racecars in the pit area ready for racing on Saturday night at the Susquehanna Speedway Park, a shower began around 6:00 p.m. and intensified around 6:30 p.m. forcing the cancelation of the evening's racing activities.  "With the amount of rain that fell during the latter part of the storm and the possible storms that were following it, we felt that we could not get the majority of the show in before our curfew," stated owner Todd Fisher.  "It would have taken at least 1 ½ to 2 hours to get the track race-ready and that would have made it too late to complete the features.   Qualifying may have been completed, but rescheduling the features for a future date would have been very difficult."

 

The rainchecks for all paid pit passes and tickets will be valid for the entire month of August (August 1, August 8, August 15, August 22 or August 29).  The Hometown Heroes night for Halifax, Jonestown, Ona and Mt. Penn will be rescheduled for Saturday night, August 8.  

 

Racing action continues at the SSP Outback Track on Friday night, July 31 at 7:30 p.m. featuring quarter midget, kart and Speedcar racing action.  This will be a Summer Shoot-Out Series race.  

 

Then on Saturday night, August 1 at 7:00 p.m. the Big Track will feature the annual Members 1st FCU Kid's Money Scramble.  Racing will include the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stocks PENNMAR Vintage Cars and the Speedway Auto Sales Mini Vans.  The August 1 race event will also be the "Hometown Heroes" night featuring the towns of Reinholds, Middletown, and Myerstown.  All fans entering the speedway from  Reinholds, Middletown, and Myerstown will be admitted FREE to the grandstands by showing proper photo identification and filling out an information card at the ticket booth.  Before the races begin, the drivers from those hometowns will have the bring their cars to the frontstretch to meet the fans just before the National Anthem at 7:00 p.m. 

 

The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. The Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune is on August 5

 

 

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be on August 5, 2009.  It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval.  The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination).  Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class.  Each session will be 6 - 8 laps per session.  The grandstands are open free to the public.  Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits.  The fuel pumps from Miller's Racing Parts will not be open.  Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller's Racing Parts directly.  The main concession stand will also be open throughout the night.  

 

Also on Wedesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets and karts at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights.  The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and "cold pit" areas.  All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the "Big Track."
