Jason Line Will Start Second in Sonoma

Jason Line completed a very impressive qualifying effort on Saturday, earning the second starting position for Sunday’s final eliminations of the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals in Sonoma, CA.  In each of the four qualifying sessions at Infineon Raceway, the Summit Racing driver’s time was among the top three of the 19 drivers making an attempt, with his 6.572-second best in the early session placing him one thousandth of a second behind his teammate and No. 1 qualifier Greg Anderson.  This marks the third time in six years that the KB Racing team will start first and second in Sonoma, with Line, who set top speed of qualifying at 210.44 mph, cautiously optimistic about his chances for race day.

 

“I have the best car that I’ve had all year going into race day,�?? said Line.  “My hat’s off to Rob (crew chief Downing) and the whole Summit crew - they’re doing a really good job getting the car to run in the first 60 feet, where we’ve struggled at times in the past.  They’re working hard to give me a great car, and it’s really coming around.

 

“There’s something about Infineon Raceway that seems to favor our set-up.  If we20knew the reason why, we’d try to duplicate it at other tracks, but it’s always been good to us.  For right now, however, we’re just going to concentrate on winning this race.   

 

“The easy part is done and we did what we had to do, and now we have to tackle the hard part.  We made four good runs in qualifying, which means that if I can snap the clutch out four times on time, we’re going to have a great day tomorrow.  That’s exactly what I plan to do.�??
