Tribute to Al Hinds; Cars needed for giant race car show and free BBQ this Saturday!

PLACERVILLE (7-25-09) –Saturday, August 1 is a big night of racing at Placerville Speedway with the annual Family Chevrolet Tribute to Al Hinds Civil War race.  The evening’s race will pay $3000 to win with a $1000 bonus from dealership owner Tony Montalbano in honor of late speedway promoter and pioneer Al Hinds.
Prior to Saturday’s event, Family Chevrolet in Shingle Springs will be host an all day event to support sprint car racing in El Dorado County. From 11 am. until approximately 2 p.m. the dealership will host up to 20 or more sprint cars on display, provide a free bbq lunch for anyone in attendance, racers and fans. Additionally, live music by Ron Pestana and the Pit Crew will be an added feature this year. Race fans may also find themselves earning free tickets to Saturday’s race throughout the day as they will be distributed uniquely by dealership staff with not purchases or requirements to do so.
Racers, Family Chevrolet and Placerville Speedway need your support. Drivers are encouraged to participate in this great event that allows the general public to get an up close look at the machines competing at Placerville Speedway and meet their drivers. Last year during this event, not only did some 400 race fans and potential race fans get the oopportunity to meet their heroes or learn about the sport, three different drivers garnered new sponsorship from area business owners who attended the event and decided to become involved in the sport.
Saturday’s event starts at 11 a.m., set up times for team will begin at 10:15 a.m. Easy ups are permitted and encouraged. Teams are still needed for this event. Thus far the drivers who have made a commitment to appear include Andy Forsberg, Jimmy Trulli, James Sweeney, Scott Russell, Justin Johnson, C.J. Humphreys,  Richard Brace Jr., Brett Rollag, Kenny Allen, Scott Kinney, Colby Wiesz, Camron Mendes, Chad Compton and Sean Becker. Additional entries are needed, don’t be left out.
