Two KONI Sports Car Challenge Teams Penalized For Rule Infractions At Barber Motorsports Park

DAYTONA BEACH, July 24, 2009: Two teams competing in the Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge were fined and penalized for rule infractions committed this past weekend at Barber Motorsports Park.

Penalized were the No. 95 Turner Motorsport BMW 328i and the No. 198 RSR Motorsports Mini Cooper S, competing in the Street Tuner class.

The teams were found in violation of Section 7-7.1 (battery dimensions).

The infractions were discovered in technical inspection prior to the race on July 19.

The teams were fined $5,000, in addition to being assessed 10 car owner, manufacturer and driver championship points.
