Himfr.com Reports on the Trend of Miniaturization in Automobiles
BEIJING, July 23 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Himfr.com ( http://www.himfr.com/ ), one of China's leading B2B search platforms with more than 30 B2B industry websites to its name, reports on the miniaturization trend in cars.
In addition to the development of new energy vehicles, the trend in cars is towards miniaturization, which eases financial burden and energy tension problems. Because of oil prices rising and the growing concern for environmental protection, almost all over the world consumers are beginning to buy automobiles with small engine displacement.
In fact, the trend of smaller cars abroad is not new. In Japan, 0.66 liter small-displacement cars have a market share of more than 60 percent; in Europe, small displacement cars with emissions below 1.0 liters account for 35 percent of total motor vehicle sales; if compact hatchback cars are taken into account, small car sales account for more than 60 percent of total sales volume. Complying with this demand, a German car magazine recently reported that BMW's new model will be fitted with a minimum allocation of a 3-cylinder engine of small displacement. If no unexpected events occur, in 2011 BMW will introduce a new line using the new 3-cylinder engine. At Volkswagen they will also be introducing a new Golf with a 3-cylinder engine configuration.
However, small cars in China are not popular: in 2004, small displacement 1.3 liter cars had a market share of 18.6 percent; in 2005, 12.6 percent; in 2006, 8.6 percent and in 2007, only 8.3 percent. In 2008, the average sales of saloon cars increased by 11 percent compared with 2007. Himfr's market analyst forecasts that by 2011 China's auto market demand structure should be optimized: the market share for automobiles with small displacement below 1.5 liters will account for more than 40 percent of sales, of which 1.0 liter small displacement vehicles will account for above 15 percent of the market share.
Why should we support cars with low displacement? Because low emission cars are in line with the requirements of energy-saving and environmental protection, are more practical, and are more in line with China's national conditions. Engage in these cars; the contribution to environmental protection is certainly higher than the efficiency of electric vehicles. To develop low emission cars in China, firstly, we should enhance the quality of small-displacement vehicles. Small-displacement cars should not be low-quality low-priced cars. Secondly, peoples' consumption concept should change.
The trend of small-displacement vehicles has been formed, and will be popular in the future.
