Two CARB-Approved Systems Combine to Make One Clean Machine

UNION CITY, Calif.--ClimaCab® and Webasto have partnered to offer an industry-leading climate control solution for heavy duty trucks. The collaboration offers a premier engine-off solution that saves fuel and reduces noxious emissions. Jay Parr, ClimaCab General Manager said, “It is our goal to provide customers with the most efficient, highest value and cleanest solution on the market, and adding a Webasto heater to our system is a no brainer.”

Glacier Bay’s electric air conditioning system, ClimaCab, and Webasto’s Air Top 2000 ST heater are fully integrated into one seamless package that provides truck operators and fleets with an optimum sleeper cab environment year-round, independent of idling the truck’s engine. ClimaCab’s state-of-the-art touch screen provides full heating and cooling control at the touch of a button, allowing precise climate control. And to simplify doing business, Glacier Bay will be the single source supplier for all system sales, parts, service, and warranty needs.

Glacier Bay and Webasto share the same enthusiasm for high quality, high performance and low cost-of-ownership products, making them natural allies in helping truck operators and fleet owners reduce vehicle idling. “For more than 70 years, Webasto has been committed to developing and providing engine-off comfort and environmental solutions to the global transportation industry,” said John Thomas, General Manager of Commercial Vehicle Business Development and Head of Environmental and Regulatory Affairs, WPNA.

ClimaCab delivers un-paralleled savings and performance, providing A/C for 10+ hours on a scorching summer afternoon while burning no fuel. The A/C system runs on only four batteries charged by a standard truck alternator. An intelligent power management module ensures optimum battery charging, extends battery life, and helps eliminate jump starts.

The Webasto Air Top 2000 ST provides quiet, powerful air heating that uses the factory bunk HVAC air ducts. The system is remarkably efficient (using 80% less fuel than an idling truck), light (5.7 lb.), and compact. “We chose Webasto to provide the heating component of our ClimaCab system because of their reputation for performance, quality, and extensive technical expertise,” said Jay Parr.

Webasto will begin supplying the Air Top 2000 ST to Glacier Bay in the summer of 2009.
