PEGGY LLEWELLYN NAMED FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR [mailto:tgardner@integrityma.com]
(SAN ANTONIO, July 20, 2009) - - NHRA Pro Stock Motorcyclist Peggy Llewellyn will
be named Female Athlete of the Year by The Elements of a Champion Foundation on
Monday, July 20, at the Party with the Pros Awards and Gala Dinner held at Stonebriar

The Elements of Champions, a non-profit organization dedicated to re-depositing
the elements which define champions back into sports, one student at a time, will
honor professional, collegiate, and high school athletes for their extraordinary
character on and off the field. [mailto:tgardner@integrityma.com]

understatement," said Llewellyn. [mailto:tgardner@integrityma.com] "My goal has
always been to be a champion on and off the racetrack, and to be recognized for

In 2007 in Dallas, Llewellyn became the first black female to win an NHRA POWERade
event, earning an appearance in the inaugural Countdown to 4 and Countdown to 1,
finishing in the NHRA POWERade season top five in standings where she recorded

Off the racetrack, she is dedicated to her community by being actively involved
with Women's Sports Foundation's Go Girl Go!, the primary programming which uses
sport and physical activity as an educational intervention that supports girls'

Independently, Llewellyn also promotes the sport of motorcycle racing, physical

Career Best Time: 6.928 seconds at 193 mph
Peggy Llewellyn's drag racing roots are firmly planted. She grew up around two wheels;
and has been riding motorcycles since she was seven years old. In 2007, Peggy launched
her professional career riding the 330+ hp Rush Racing Products Pro Stock Motorcycle.
An action packed year saw Peggy win her first NHRA National event, place 4th in
the Championship chase and was a recipient of the Full Throttle Award. Peggy's determination,
drive and focus will continue to see this amazing talent make her mark in the NHRA
Pro Stock Bike class for years to come.
