Former GM General Counsel Robert Osborne Returns to Jenner & Block
CHICAGO, July 20 -- Robert S. Osborne, Group Vice President and General Counsel of General Motors, will rejoin Jenner & Block in September 2009 as a Partner in its Chicago Office. Mr. Osborne returns to the Firm's highly regarded Corporate Department.

While at GM, Mr. Osborne had primary responsibility for GM's legal staff, office of export compliance and office of the secretary, and was a member of GM's senior management committee, the automotive strategy board. While at GM, he headed a global legal staff of more than 200 lawyers in 31 countries and led the legal teams that resolved complex securities litigation, negotiated a series of federal government loans and successfully executed a complex 363 sale and emergence from bankruptcy over a short period of time.
Mr. Osborne had previously been a senior partner of the Firm, Chair of its Corporate Department and a member of its Management and Policy Committees from September 2002 until he joined GM in September 2006. Prior to joining Jenner & Block, he was a senior partner at Kirkland & Ellis, LLP. Mr. Osborne graduated from Harvard Law School, magna cum laude, in 1979 and from Harvard College, magna cum laude, in 1976. He is admitted to the bar in the states of Illinois, Michigan and New York.
