Paul Newman’s Legendary Racing Partner Joins In Control Team
WILMINGTON, Mass.--In Control Advanced Driver Training, Massachusetts’ first state-certified crash prevention program, announces the addition of legendary race car driver Robert J. Sharp as Chairman of its Board of Directors. With his business and racing experience, Sharp has big plans to help the company grow and further its mission of saving lives by creating safer drivers.
Sharp is a six time SSCA National Champion, as well as an International Motor Sport Association GTU Champion. Along with creating Bob Sharp Motors to sell cars, he founded his own racing team, Bob Sharp Racing in 1965 that later became Newman- Sharp Racing after partnering with Paul Newman. Members of the Newman-Sharp racing team have included Tom Cruise, Sam Posey, Walter Payton, and Scott Sharp. Sharp has always been passionate about both racing cars, and creating better drivers.
“Paul Newman and I always wanted to launch a training program,” said Sharp. “In Control is the nations’ leader with its model. I am looking forward to using my experience and connections in business and motorsports to help In Control grow and revolutionize driver training across the US.”
In Control provides hands-on training in many essential driving skills, such as tailgating avoidance, defensive driving techniques, speed and steering control, the dangers of distractions, and many more. Statistics show 43 percent of first-year drivers and 37 percent of second-year drivers experience a crash. In Control’s program helps to reduce the risk of crashes by 70 percent for new drivers.
