DENHAM, UNITED KINGDOM – July 15, 2009: Bosch has enhanced and extended its popular consumer website devoted to Electronic Stability Program (ESP). Introduced by Bosch in 1995 ESP is a vehicle active chassis braking safety system which can prevent a vehicle going into a potential skidding situation. ESP is three chassis system technologies in one - Antilock Braking (ABS), Traction Control (TCS) and ESP. Visitors to www.bosch-esperience.co.uk can gain access to all the information on this proven important life saving vehicle technology and view on track driving demonstrations and animations of how the technology works.
The website now includes UK specific information including market development – how many new cars are now fitted with the technology – UK fleet research and independent safety effectiveness studies. The user-friendly site also provides comprehensive information about ESP® value-added functions such as Hill Hold Control, Load Adaptive Control and Roll Over Mitigation.
The website has all the latest information on electronic stability control legislation for Europe, Australia and North America and there are also links to key websites, including EuroNCAP (www.euroncap.com) with details of the new rating scheme for 2009; the European campaign - ChooseESC! (www.chooseesc.eu) and the Department for Transport ESC effectiveness study (www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roads/vehicles/vssafety/safetyresearch/esc).
EU regulations require ESC (Electronic Stability Control) to be fitted to all new vehicle types launched throughout Europe from November 2011 and on all new vehicles sold from November 2014.
The UK Department for Transport research has estimated that 380 lives could be saved and 7,800 accidents avoided per year if ESP was fitted to all vehicles.
