Lime Rock, July 15, 2009: In addition to Monday’s news of Corvette Racing’s GT2 debut at the Acura Sports Car Challenge, another high-profile team will make its return to the Series at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on August 6-8. Greg Pickett’s Team Cytosport has entered a Porsche RS Spyder with Pickett and Klaus Graf splitting the driving duties.

SPEEDtv.com’s Marshall Pruett was present for Cytosport’s first test with the Porsche (the No. 20 entry for Dyson Racing in 2007 and 2008) last week at Infineon Raceway. For Pickett to say it went well is an understatement.

Pickett and Klaus Graf will race the LMP2 Porsche for the first time at Mid-Ohio. “This is the best racing car I’ve ever driven,” is what Pickett shared after his first stint in the car, but those words only came after taking a moment to compose himself. The Trans-Am champion’s initial words were a collection of shouts and raw emotion.

“This Porsche is everything I’d hoped it would be,” the team owner told Pruett. “We raced against the Penske and Dyson RS Spyders in 2007 and now I see why this ‘little’ P2 car gave the P1 cars an absolute fit. All I can say is ‘Wow.’ I’m at a loss for words to describe how good the car is.”

“We have been in constant contact with Greg Pickett and his team over the last several months, and we were extremely pleased to hear of such an outstanding performance in the team’s first test with the Porsche RS Spyder,” said Series President and CEO Scott Atherton. “Our fans and teams have missed both Porsche and Team Cytosport among the prototype ranks, and the return of both continues to bolster the American Le Mans Series as we continue our pattern of growth in otherwise challenging times.”
