Vauxhall Teams up with Creative Talent Kate Moross for Roller Skating Event
LUTON, UNITED KINGDOM – July 14, 2009: Vauxhall has teamed up with Kate Moross, one of the most prolific young illustrators and designers to rise out of the UK, to customise a Vauxhall Corsa in her own signature style. The commission will take centre stage as part of a celebrity-fuelled roller disco event called “Vauxhall Skate”, set to take place at the end of this month (29th July 2009).
The Corsa was wrapped in white vinyl while Kate painted directly onto it with acrylic paint and Posca semi permanent markers. The colours were chosen because of the rainbow spectrums and light fields used in SciFi imagery, a key influence in the “Vauxhall Skate” set design.
Cutting-edge British designer Kate was rated number 18 in last year’s NME’s ‘Future 50’ issue and her work to date includes an exclusive ‘Kate Moross for Topshop’ clothing range, a national billboard campaign for Cadbury’s and this summer she was asked to create her very own field at Glastonbury. This is the first car commission Kate has undertaken.
“Vauxhall Skate” extends Vauxhall’s commitment to driving excitement on four wheels. To mark the event, taking place in Shoreditch, London, the car company has also created a unique pair of roller boots, in true Corsa style, which will be showcased in all their glory on the evening.
Other cars to be on show include a Car-aoke Corsa adorned with retro green UV wire frames and a rotating mirror-ball Tigra, most recently seen at the Vauxhall Style catwalk shows.
Celebrity DJs at the event include; Sophie Ellis Bextor & Richard Jones, singer Remi Nicole, rising actor Alfie Allen and former Libertines front man Carl Barat.
