Palisades Unveils First New Jersey Highway Art Gallery Featuring Works by Renowned Local Artists Tim Daly & Gary Godbee
The Nice New Jersey Car Insurance Company Launches its 'Drive with a Smile' Campaign and Calls for Art Submissions of NJ Landscapes for Billboard Competition
BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J., July 13 -- Palisades, the nice New Jersey car insurance company, officially announced today the launch of its "Drive with a Smile" campaign with the unveiling of New Jersey's firsthighway art gallery. The PalisadesHighwayArtGallery exhibits original works by area artists on some of the largest and most viewed canvases in the state - New Jersey's highway and roadway billboards. The first installations are on prominent bulletins on I-80 near exit 65 in BergenCounty and on I-295 near exit 67 in MercerCounty, featuring inaugural works by renowned New Jersey landscape artists Tim Daly of Hoboken and Gary Godbee of Westfield.
The next series of installations will be created and selected by the public. Starting July 13th, New Jersey residents are encouraged to submit artwork of scenic views, landscapes and destinations in the GardenState to the Drive with a Smile Web site, Palisades.com/DriveWithaSmile, to compete to have their work featured on the HighwayArtGallery billboards throughout the state. Whether they choose to depict a favorite driving destination, a picturesque hideaway, a fun in the sun beach scene or the best small-town diner in the state, entrants should make New Jersey scenes and landscapes their inspiration and central focus.
"Our goal is to provide local artists a public venue for their work, and give New Jersey drivers an uplifting driving experience," said Ed Fernandez, president and CEO of Palisades. "This is a truly unique concept that will give widespread exposure to New Jersey artists in a first-of-its-kind setting. By showcasing New Jersey's beautiful landscapes on spaces once only reserved for commercial advertising, the PalisadesHighwayArtGallery will create nicer New Jersey driving moments and smiles all around."
Original paintings, drawings, photography and mixed media will all be accepted in digital format. Entries will be showcased in an online gallery, and visitors to the Web site will be able to vote for their favorite entries starting on July 14th. Based on the number of votes as of August 7th, up to a dozen submissions will be selected for reproduction onto billboards on major highways and roadways inBergen, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Burlington, Mercer, Ocean, Somerset and Atlantic Counties.
The competition will run from July 13th until August 7th. Voting will begin on July 14th, so artists are encouraged to submit early. Winners will be announced on August 10th on Palisades.com/DriveWithaSmile.
