Hertz, BLS Trucking, Cinterion Wireless Modules and Partners Win Prestigious M2M Value Chain Awards
BELLEVUE, Wash.--Cinterion Wireless Modules, the leading global manufacturer of cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) modules, announced today it has been honored with two prestigious Value Chain Awards for its role in M2M solutions implemented by Hertz, the world's largest general use car rental company and BLS Trucking. Cinterion received a gold award for powering communications in the Hertz NeverLost personal navigation and fleet management device, and a silver award for its role in Networkfleet, an innovative fleet management solution adopted by BLS Trucking. Working with a team of technology partners including Navigation Solutions and Networkfleet among others, Cinterion was recognized for enabling innovative M2M technology solutions that improved business processes and productivity.
“We chose Hertz and BLS Trucking for Value Chain Awards because they implemented smart M2M solutions that demonstrate how cooperation among multiple technology providers can enable creative solutions that improve overall business performance,” said Peggy Smedley, editorial director and publisher of M2M Magazine. “In increasingly competitive marketplaces, M2M technology can be a make or break addition to an enterprise’s advantage. M2M solutions are cost effective, quick to provide ROI, and they improve business productivity. These solutions demonstrate how teams such as Cinterion, Navigation Solutions and AT&T are working collaboratively to solve real business challenges as well as drive M2M adoption.”
“We’re proud to be recognized by Value Chain Awards highlighting some of our partners’ most innovative M2M applications,” said Peter Fowler, regional president, Cinterion Americas. “Our team prides itself on superior customer service and working hand in hand with clients to find the most creative technology solutions. Time and time again, GSM-based M2M technology, and Cinterion’s strong portfolio of innovative modules, has proven a smart investment for business across a growing spectrum of industries including automotive, health care, environmental services – and Cinterion is leading the way and helping drive M2M adoption.”
Hertz NeverLost customized, in-car navigation system was designed by Navigation Solutions with a straightforward user interface that provides turn-by-turn directions with audio prompts as well as visual map and maneuver displays. NeverLost integrates Cinterion’s new MC55i wireless module for wireless connectivity over the AT&T network, which enables fleet management capabilities, real-time software updates, and 10 million points of interest and attractions. The award winning solution has won the approval of Hertz customers and management who both benefit from the advantage of anytime, anywhere communications.
BLS Trucking implemented Networkfleet’s wireless fleet management system, which allows management to remotely track and manage its fleet of vehicles. The BLS implementation integrates Cinterion’s TC63 module into Networkfleet to enable real time communications and transmit GPS location and patented remote diagnostic monitoring data from fleet vehicles to a network operation center. BLS uses a dedicated website interface to view real time vehicle data such as current location, fuel consumption, mileage, speed, emissions, and idle-time through. In addition, the company has lowered repair costs and reduced breakdowns while improving vehicle management and deterring theft. The solution also gave BLS increased visibility of trucks on the road that helped reduce false claims against drivers, reduce employee stress and lower legal fees. With lower fuel and repair costs, Networkfleet paid for itself in less than a year. By the second year, BLS Trucking projects a savings of $220,000. Depending on price per gallon, that is the equivalent of receiving approximately 90,000 gallons of free fuel.
Value Chain Awards honor the most successful adopters of M2M technology along with the team of solution suppliers and providers that made their success possible. The awards highlight the process of combining multiple technologies – including device connectivity hardware, radio modules, network services and application software – and showcase how all elements of the M2M value chain work together to create winning solutions for customers.
