Honda Jazz - Japan's Sales King
TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – July 13, 2009: The biggest selling car in Japan in 2008 has retained its crown in the first half of 2009.
The Honda Jazz (known as the Fit in Japan) sold almost 175,000 units in 2008 while YTD sales (Jan – June 2009) have totaled 65,598 units, making it the number one choice for Japanese motorists.
Since its introduction in 2001 the Jazz has achieved spectacular global success with over 2 million units sold, with Japan accounting for more than 1.2 million sales.
In fact, other than 2001 when the Jazz was launched in October, it has been a top-three seller in Japan every year, finishing first on two occasions (2002 & 2008), second in 2003 and 2004 and third in 2002.
The Jazz is also one of Honda Australia’s most popular models with more than 70,000 sold since its introduction in October 2002. Popularity remains solid with the new model racking up almost 9,000 sales since its launch in September last year.
