DARTFORD, UNITED KINGDOM – July 10, 2009: Motorworld Oxford has delivered its final consignment of Mazda BT-50s to the Murco Petroleum Ltd fleet in Milford Haven, meaning that the Mazda dealer in Botley Road is now supplying almost half the vehicles operated by the oil company.

Since November 2007, Murco Petroleum, a subsidiary of the USA-based Murphy Oil Corporation, has been undertaking a phased renewal of pick-ups on its 60-strong fleet. The latest additions complete the renewal programme and mean that a total of 27 Mazda BT-50 4x2 Single Cabs and Double Cab 4x4 TSs have joined the company’s current 60-strong fleet.

“The BT-50 is built for durability. Its practicality makes it a real winner with fleets where load-lugging – whether people, equipment or a combination of the two – is required,” explains Andrew Smith, business sales manager at Motorworld Oxford.

The fleet of BT-50s are typically used to carry people, tools and equipment around the Milford Haven refinery site and out to the waterside jetty.

Rob Staples, Murco Petroleum’s rotating equipment superintendent who is in charge of the fleet, comments: “The pick-ups may only make short journeys around the refinery site, but they are in use round-the-clock so have to be strong and reliable and a real workhorse. That is why we choose Mazda’s BT-50s.”

All the vehicles, which are powered by 2.5-litre 143ps diesel engines, are on 120,000-mile/five-year lease agreements with Arval, a major car leasing and fleet management company. Some BT-50s are additionally equipped with options that include Truckman tops, load-liners and towbars all fitted in Motorworld Oxford’s Pre-delivery Inspection centre.
