MARTORELL, SPAIN – July 6, 2009: The Spanish car manufacturer SEAT posted an increase in its world retails sales in June; the almost 36,000 units sold show a 0.7% increase over the same period last year.

A major part of this upturn in SEAT model sales comes from the surge in export markets, where figures for June show it to be the best month for sales since 2002. The breakdown by country shows that the most significant rises were in Germany (8,500 registrations, best June numbers since 1991), Austria (first ever month in which figures have surpassed the 2,000 mark), France (3,800 units, best June figures since 1995) and Belgium, the best results for June since 2000.

On its home ground in Spain SEAT has gained a firm foothold as the automobile brand registering most units (39,498) for the first semester of 2009, leading the market for the second consecutive month, ahead of Citroën and Renault.

This positive upturn in world sales over the past few months, has not prevented the brand from still seeing a 15.7% drop in sales figures for the first semester in comparison with the same period for 2008.
